This axe head is drop-forged from high-carbon steel and fully heat-treated, giving a hard, keen cutting edge that stands up to repeated splitting and trimming. The eye is punched and reamed to a precise taper so the head seats firmly on a standard wooden handle.
The body carries a bright red painted finish for corrosion protection, while the cutting edge is left polished and ready for final honing.
